Advance Tertiary College (ATC) proudly congratulates our moot team on qualifying for the quarterfinals of the 21st LAWASIA International Moot Competition (Malaysia National Rounds), held from 12 to 14 June 2026 at the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) in Kuala Lumpur. Capping off an impressive campaign, Team ATC and coach Mr. Kenneth Koh also emerged as winners of the Spirit of LAWASIA award.
Meet the ATC Moot Team
Our three mooters represented ATC with distinction throughout the national rounds:
- Ms. Tanoosha Rajakumaran
- Ms. Yuki Ng Suet Yee
- Ms. Wong Chu En
Under the guidance of coach Mr. Kenneth Koh, the team progressed through a competitive field of law schools from across the country to secure their place in the quarterfinals. Their run reflects months of dedicated preparation, from in-depth legal research and written pleadings to countless hours of oral advocacy practice.
Winners of the Spirit of LAWASIA Award
Beyond the quarterfinal finish, Team ATC and Mr. Kenneth Koh were honoured with the Spirit of LAWASIA award, a recognition that celebrates the values at the heart of the competition: collegiality, sportsmanship and professionalism. It is a fitting reflection of how our students carry themselves: competitive in the moot court, gracious outside of it.
This achievement also belongs to the ATC Moot Society, whose members work tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare our teams for every competition.
About the 21st LAWASIA International Moot Competition
The LAWASIA International Moot Competition is an annual international mooting competition organised by LAWASIA (The Law Association for Asia and the Pacific), bringing together law schools from across the Asia-Pacific region. The 2026 Malaysia National Rounds were organised by the LAWASIA International Moot Secretariat together with the Malaysian Bar Council.
In its 21st edition, the moot problem explored the intersection of entertainment law and emerging technology. The case centred on the use of AI-generated holography to replace a live performer, raising challenging questions of contractual interpretation and performance obligations. The International Rounds will be held in Seoul, South Korea, from 13 to 16 September 2026.
Since its first edition in 2005, the moot has grown into one of the most anticipated student advocacy events in the Asia-Pacific. More than 1,500 students from around 60 law schools across 30 jurisdictions have competed over the years.
Mooting at ATC: Building Malaysia’s Future Advocates
Mooting sits at the heart of legal education at ATC. Founded in 1988, ATC is Malaysia’s premier private law school, a recipient of the University of London’s 150th-Anniversary Award for Excellence, and the holder of the record for the most London law awards among private law schools. We believe advocacy is learned by doing, through mock trials, moot competitions and real-world case studies that sharpen the research, analytical and courtroom skills every lawyer needs.
Students across all our programmes, from the Foundation in Law and the University of London LLB to the UK Degree Transfer Programme (Law) and the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP), are encouraged to join the ATC Moot Society and put their advocacy to the test on national and international stages. Results like this at the LAWASIA International Moot Competition show what happens when talent meets opportunity and the right training.
